Chosen Cop 3 question and 250 word introduction

To what extent does Aesthetic ‘Style’ reflect the context, audience and/or function of contemporary Graphic Design / Illustration / Animation?

This is my chosen question for my proposal that I will be writing in the future.

The reason why I have chosen this question because the word "style" represents a lot of things, its a subject I could talk widely about based on the world and society both in the past and the present. Style is every where both in the art of animation and the way we live our lives, it is a factor that plays a big part in identifying things for who and what they are, I think I will have a lot more to talk about when getting in to the subject of style.

I will use artist like e.g. Rob Dobi and Olly Moss for inspiration when approaching this practical side of this project.

The chosen question is about style, the following proposal will be taking a look at style based on gender, race or scenery with in animation. The word style has two main different meanings, one being based on the principle being the way something is designed and another meaning is orientated around the procedure which something is done. This proposal will cover both of these meanings and will look into styles based on gender, race, scenery or narrative, talking about the different approaches to making an animation based on representation of genders both male and female, scenery or race. The main focus will be the style in which the animators use to depict certain character based on their race, gender and the setting they are in, questions will be asked to find out about peoples opinions to do with style as a representation for characters. what will be looked at is how certain styles bring forth emotion and what people feel when looking at certain characters e.g. laughter, anger, sadness.
