  • “The face is a picture of the mind with the eyes as its interpreter.”

  • “Every now and then one paints a picture that seems to have opened a door and serves as a stepping stone to other things.”

  • “A picture can tell a thousand words, but a few words can change it’s story.”

  • “A picture held us captive. And we could not get outside it, for it lay in our language and language seemed to repeat it to us inexorably.”

  • “The world before us is a postcard, and I imagine the story we are writing on it.”

For this research seen here, it has been all about finding relevant quotes symbolic to the of pictures painting words. They say a picture paints a thousand words so I went about trying to find relevant quotes relating to the idea of art communicating something through imagery, needed significant and powerful statements which deeply expressed the means in which a picture could express emotion or tell some kind of visual story. The idea I get when looking at these quotes is that they try to be really descriptive and use a lot of metaphors and similes to communicate what a picture makes them feel. What I am trying to Understand when searching these quotes is what in any picture would triggers these thoughts is it the e.g. colours, Image it self, style in which it is presented.

The reason for searching these quotes in particular is because I needed quotes which talked about the issue of visual communication, like the ones above I wanted them to be very detailed when it came to expressing what pictures are like with communication, so I could build and understanding of what perceptions different people gain from looking at an image. Whilst researching these quotes, I was trying to build and image of a piece of art, trying to imagine my own idea of what each quote was talking about. The reason why I want to use these quotes is because they could potential help me develop my own ideas when it comes to my practical reason mainly for the reason that they are really detailed in their descriptions and this could help me imagine some ideas which could be potentially useful for my final piece.

Doing this research has helped me reveal sites and text I was not able to find early, I have previously been struggling to find quotes and text relating to my current idea because it is not a commonly talked about subject. I mainly think I tend to look in the wrong places and type the wrong things so I will now know to use sites like the one above and will browse the libraries for books about illustration that communicate and will try and find out the intentions of the people who made the illustrations in them, I have not yet found any books with quotes or other sites with quotes but I will continue to research in order to find more quotes but this is a significant starts because the quotes could be used in my dissertation it self. This research has moved my project in the right direction because it has given me direction in what type of quotes I need to be looking for.

"what would be the meaning behind this image ?"

I was researching Trungles and found out that he was apart of an art community where you can sell your own personal work, I my self have joined this site my self because I think it will prove useful through promoting my work. There are plenty of artist to draw inspiration from and many different pieces of work to view It will be useful artist research and inspiration.

The page was visited for the reason it being a community of artist because I am able to look at other artists for inspiration and I myself joined it because it will be useful for getting me known with in my industry through recommendations. I chose to use this for the fact of being able to draw inspiration for this project, I looked at a few pieces on this site to day just to understand what type of art people produce and what they hope to communicate from these pieces. The collection of work on this site was one of the reasons why I took an interest in it, there are many different artist with contrasting styles which will mostly likely be useful when I come to produce practical research because I could attempt the methods used by the artist on this or even find a way to make contact with. In other words this is a site which is definitely source for inspiration and information I could work from to build my very own concept for my final piece.

Inprnt is going to be very useful for the progression of this project because it has provided me with many different artist I can draw inspiration from for when I decided to do more research into my idea but also gives me ideas and styles which I could potentially experiment with when undergoing my particle research, From looking at what this presents it provides me with a lot of images which communicate different things, this will prove to be a very useful source.

I have been look at Trundles artist page, he is asian based illustrator who uses a lot of detailed lines in his art work. I have been looking at a lot of his work recently on his artist page I like how he uses multiple lines to textures a lot of his characters by features like their hair. There are a lot of bright and colourful piece, again going back to pop art they look like there influenced by the pop art movement, but this is just based on what I see in comparison to works like Roy Lichtenstein, I am making the comparison between pop art and a lot of illustrative pieces I come across because of the multiple colours used, I would say that Pop art is an inspiration to what we see to day based on the fact that a lot of images now use multiple colours constantly to give the images life and feeling. Pop art stands for Popular art and reflects what its says because it covered what was popular in the late 60's and now covers what popular in modern day society. I personally think Trundles is one of those artist who is keeping up the tradition.

Trundles artist art pages are sources I have frequently been visiting to start of my idea generation for this project because he has inspired my art style even before this project started, I my self like drawing with multiple lines and find Trungles to be useful as a guide because I want my drawings to be as accurate as his when drawing my own images. I mainly using him just to help me visualise what my piece could potentially look like, I have spent my time today looking through a lot of his art piece to help be build an image of what my work to potentially look like but also try to understand what I feel when looking at his work, maybe what I could even try to communicate when creating my piece.

Looking at this page has made me move forward with my work load because it has given me an understanding to what I could make in terms of art, still early to decided what my art piece will look like but Trungles is someone who inspires me because his artwork is what has inspired my current style and I am intending to draw similar to how de draws in terms line work. I can push on with my work knowing I have a samples of his work I can follow for style.

Adam Fuchs is said to be the creative brains behind the animation for Flying Lotus's Zodiac Shit. I have been looking at his website to help guide my project in terms of my direction. I Like his style of both his animation and illustration, his page is very colourful and reminds me of the Pop art for its use of multiple expressive colours and a lot of his images look funky and they have a modern pop art feel to them through the use of colours and the both 2D digital style of which they are animated in. I plan to use this page for further research and inspiration because it already is focused around the current idea I have on the basis of it being based around music videos, sound and colour. I can use this for guidance because it could help me generate ideas and could be useful for my final animated response, but I would say that this to early to say at this point because this is early research and I am still trying to understand my chosen subject, which is visual communication.

I was really interested to find out who was the creator behind the Zodiac Shit animated video after my previous post, I have always known about this video for some time but have never been able to find out who created the animation. The reason for looking at this page was not just for inspiration alone, it was because I am both a fan and really interested in Adam Fuchs's work up till this point I never knew who he was but inspired by the style he uses in each of his pieces. I Like his art and his page so much because they are related to the type of animation I want to work with for both in this brief and my future career as an animator. I Just find its exciting and fascinating how colour, images and music can communicate so much through images with out meaning and use something so small with no dialogue or story. They always say that pictures paint a thousand words and that is what I want to investigate and solve as a problem for this up and coming project, because visuals are what my work is revolved around and I like to work with communicating messages visual because I feel that there is a sense of power behind images and why the represent with in society and I want to try understand what elements with in a picture makes people feel a certain way and what are peoples devised opinions about an image e.g. colours, lines.

Looking at Adam Fuchs art page as a source has helped me with the being stages of my idea because it has opened my eyes to the possible ideas I could work with for both my animated response and the direction in which my dissertation could take when I come to talking about my interest with visual communication. This source has provided me with visuals and a style to follow in which I can develop my own style and use to tackle the response to my essay and gives me a rough/vague ideas of what visuals I am going to experiment with and even potentially the mediums I am going to use when working with both my practical research and my final piece.

I google searched Pop art as an art movement because it is a form of art which has influenced my work since studying art for sometime. It is also a form of art which expresses feeling and emotion through the multiple colours that each piece uses. I really like how each piece is planned out and the composition of colours used, with my current art style I like to use a lot of colour because I believe it gives each piece I produce character and makes it more lively and fun because there is more going when you look at both the image and range of colours involved. Using this work as inspiration works very well for me because my intention is to use both images and colours to communicate feeling and emotion for this project in a similar format to the images above.

Reason for using Pop art as a movement is because of its colours and the way the images are presented with in each piece but I will be using this as a guideline for my work because it is the way I want to present my up and coming pieces for this module. Looking at this subject will help move this project in the right direction because looking at sources like these will give me a guideline on what type of colours I am to produce when experimenting and producing my final piece.

Looking at these images gives this project direction because doing this has provided me with a few rough ideas for thumbnails I could potentially create and the possibility of making of what my final piece could potentially look like, I have not fully decided on my final look, this the early stages of my work and I am not rushing into any finals just yet, I still plan to explore more about pop art in later research, I think this brief will involve a lot of experimentation because it is not just focused on one style but pop art is an open movement.

This is a music called Zodiac shit by Flying Lotus which use a concept I am thinking involving a lot of colour and line movement, it is very similar to pop art in that is uses a lot of colours and images to define the characters it uses but communicates a sense of feeling and emotion through its visuals along with music.

I really like the style of this animation because it uses a style in which I like to animate with in the sense that it is line based which is how I animate and the colours are very bright, I would link this to pop art because it is brightly colourful and expressive in its visuals and how it moves. Personally chose to use this for inspiration because it is animated in how I am planning to animate my future piece for this brief.

Flying Lotus's animated music video has been very helpful in giving me a direction of how I could animate my final piece but also has worked along side the research of pop art as a movement to give me a vague image in my head of what my work could possibly look like, I just plan to keep using this as both an inspiration and target/goal for my self to reach when creating my final piece because I think looking at this as a guide will help inspire me more and can even help me generate more ideas.

This is a post about a narratives in books mostly focusing on the images used, In my proposal I have said that I want to be looking at both images and text that reflect modern day depiction and images communicate with an audience through the colours used and the way they are presented in appearance. So far I had struggled to find much about this subject until I arrived at this page because there are not many articles which talk about the matter of the representation of images and the way it makes them feel. I like the idea of my project so far and think the concept of conveying emotion from an image and colour would fun because it will involve a lot of experimentation and thought what images I could present and a list of ways they can be depicted, the most exciting thing about this is that I am not restricted, there are no rules to what ideas I can come up with and how they should look because art is a both free and expressive practice.

I chose this idea mainly because I think it will be both a challenging and exciting project to work for the reason of liking to communicate feelings and emotions through visuals myself. I like to use a lot of colour on the images I draw which can be too much for some people, but I do this because I like to be expressive in  my representation of something. I like this project because it sounds very experimentive and will allow me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things, which means I am open to do anything.

I haven't developed away of applying this research yet, but know that this information is very useful for the research into my idea, because it provides valuable information I have been searching for since proposing this idea based around the importance of visuals and how they might present a message through presentation, This alone has helped to move my project forward because it is providing with little tips on what whys I could apply the methods other illustrators use to help my work communicate its own message.
